Found this female Common Merganser at Riverain Park on Thursday. Her head, bill, and above all feet were startling bits of color on an otherwise gray morning.

Gorgeous shot! You look like you were really close! Did you see the Barrow's Goldeneye while you were there?

I was--she was right up on shore!
I saw two male Barrow's that morning, actually--swimming in the same group with a bunch of female Commons and a few male Commons. Didn't post pictures because they all came out dingy and colorless due to the overcast skies. I've heard there's even a third male Barrow's out there, but haven't seen him yet.
