I'm sure they were, though I mistook them for skippers at the time. I must
have seen a thousand of them on my walk at Lime Kiln Trail and a thousand more
in the Nortel woods.
Red Admiral is a migratory species, so this is probably a wave of them arriving from the south.
It's too early for skippers, which aren't migratory. Keep an eye out for
Question Marks and American Ladies as well.
How did you find Nortel?

Found it, and found it a beautiful area, though not very birdy nor insecty
when I was there (except for the abundant Red Admirals, of course.) It's
actually quite close to where I live. I'll definitely be back. I like having a
place to go that's a little less well-known and thus less-peopled, which makes
for a more peaceful walk and less skittish birds. Thanks again for the
directions!
