Photographed near Terry Fox Drive. Rough-Legged Hawk is a tundra and arctic-breeding raptor that sometimes spends the winter in Ottawa. It is unusual for a large hawk in that it regularly hovers while searching for prey. This individual was very tame, calmly ignoring me as I shot photo after photo.
