These two male Pileated Woodpeckers were embroiled in an epic territorial battle. They followed each other from tree to tree, calling loudly, posturing, even fencing beaks. Photographed at Britannia Conservation Area in 2009. The entire drama took place on the lawn of the filtration plant!
