Hunchback Bee Fly

[Hunchback Bee Fly]

This strange looking fly is known for sneaking into wasps' nests to lay its eggs. When the larvae hatch, they eat the food that was provisioned for the wasp larvae by their parents, and possibly the wasp larvae themselves! Photographed in Marlborough Forest in North Gower.
