On My Balcony

Busy parent robins have been flying back and forth for a couple weeks now, feeding this brood atop my second-floor balcony light. I consider them welcome neighbors. They're much cleaner birds than the pigeons that used to lay eggs on my apartment balcony.

Don't worry, I'm not as close as it looks! I shot this from the back yard.

Do you live on a farm. I see baling twine there, and bits of hay. Nice for a nest.

When I was a kid my mom always cut her own hair, outdoors, using a mirror. She always left the hair out for birds to make nests with.

Nope, I live in the suburbs! Don't know where the twine came from...the "hay" could have come from my own overgrown back yard :-) Of course there is farmland not far from where we live. We're right on the expanding outer edge of Kanata.

They're very cute... I'm glad we're hosting them!
